"As radio operators, we share a unique bond that transcends distance..."
In the world of amateur radio, a "Silent Key" is a term used to honor radio operators who have passed away. More than just a phrase, it signifies respect for those who dedicated their time to communication, emergency response, and the camaraderie of the radio community.
This page is dedicated to the memory of our Silent Keys—friends, mentors, and fellow operators who shared their voices with us over the airwaves. Though their signals may no longer be heard, their impact and contributions continue to resonate within our group and beyond.
We remember them not only for their callsigns but for the wisdom they shared, the friendships they built, and the legacy they left behind.
William was a beloved father, friend, volunteer, and community member. Throughout his life he worked as a telecommunications entrepreneur, peace officer, volunteered extensively at the Van Zandt County Library, and founded the CARES organization. He served as our president, mentor, and backbone of our group before tragically losing his 3 year battle with cancer in September of 2024. He was surrounded by his family and loved ones in Fort Worth, Texas, and was celebrated by his friends and members of the community he served in Canton. His legacy of passion and enthusiasm for radio communications and community cooperation will be dearly held and passed on by his surviving family, friends, and the CARES group he brought to life.
73 William, you are loved and will be dearly missed.
